Lay’s Cheesy Garlic Bread chips originally debuted as a contender, and eventual winner, of Lay’s “Do Us A Flavor” contest back in 2013. This fan-voted favorite disappeared from shelves shortly after, and did not return until this year.
Most of our Food Rankers team did not get a chance to try these in 2013, so we had to grab a bag when we saw them at Sam’s Club.

Do Lay’s Cheesy Garlic Bread chips really taste like garlic bread? We expected these to taste like garlicky potato chips with a hint of cheese.
Cheesy, garlic chips would be close enough to garlic bread for a potato chip company, right? Nope!
The flavor masters at Lay’s really nailed this one. It seriously tastes like everything you would expect: garlic, bread, cheese, and a hint of butter.
We are dying to know how you can make potato chips taste this much like bread. Deliciously irresistible…and slightly creepy. A bread flavored potato chip.
Our food reviewers, like most people, really love garlic bread. We could not stop eating these! One turned into two, and then a whole plateful. Why wait to make actual garlic bread when Lay’s Cheesy Garlic Bread potato chips are available right this instant?
We have tried to think of constructive criticism for this product, and the best we could come up with is, “Why are they not a permanent flavor?”
Time to go to Sam’s Club and grab more of these before they disappear for years…again.
