Popeyes is known for a lot of things, including their delicious biscuits. It makes sense for them to use those same biscuits to make a dessert as it is sure to be good. With this in mind, we decided to see for ourselves and tell you all about it!
The new Popeyes Strawberry Biscuit is described as a sweet and salty biscuit filled with strawberries and topped with icing. Here’s what one of ours looked like:
First, we couldn’t help but notice that these smell like fresh strawberries with a hint of Popeyes biscuit. Biting into it for the first time is interesting, because you actually taste their famous biscuit with its saltiness first, followed by the sweetness of strawberries and icing. Some of our reviewers really enjoyed the contrast in the first bite, while others weren’t sure how to feel about it.
As you eat more of it, the strawberry flavor and sweet icing become more apparent, making it more dessert-like. The balance of sweet and salty is good overall, and our biscuits were soft with a decent number of strawberry bits baked inside. We enjoyed the flavor, even though it is not exactly what most of us expected.
A couple of our crew members thought that the description of “filled with strawberries” meant that the Popeyes Strawberry Biscuits would come with a strawberry filling similar to a strawberry shortcake. Unfortunately for those people. the biscuit itself is filled with bits of the fruit rather than there actually being a sweet strawberry filling inside. Most of us think a small amount of strawberry filling would take this to the next level and give it more of that delicious sweet summery flavor, but they are still pretty tasty.
