Pillsbury Cornbread Swirls Review

If you would like fresh baked cornbread without measuring and mess, this Pillsbury Cornbread Swirls review is for you!

Pillsbury Cornbread Swirls come with six pre-cut swirls that are ready to place in a muffin tin and bake in about 15 minutes. It’s that simple, but do they make for delicious cornbread? We tried them, and we are here to show you and tell you what they are really like.

Now for the fun part!

Pillsbury Cornbread Swirls Review

These come in a tube similar to Grands biscuits or Crescents, and all you have to do is pop it open and place the cornbread swirls in a muffin tin, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and bake for 13-17 minutes.

To be fair, some of us are used to making and enjoying homemade cornbread, so we weren’t sure what to expect from these. Once they came out of the oven, the fresh-baked fragrance and appearance drew us in.

The taste experience reminded us of homemade cornbread, only a tiny bit sweeter with a hint of that signature Pillsbury flavor that most of their bread products have. The edges are not crispy like cornbread that has been baked in a skillet, but the insides are soft, fluffy, and slightly crumbly like good cornbread should be. If Pillsbury can figure out a way to get the delicious crispy edges we love onto these swirls and include it in the baking instructions, we might not bother making homemade cornbread again!

The convenient and mess-free baking experience is a plus, and the swirls come out better than the majority of store-bought cornbread items and mixes.

Summary And Review

Cornbread Swirls are definitely tasty and useful for quick and easy cornbread with a flavor that resembles homemade. We miss the crispy edges on regular skillet cornbread though!

Pros

  • Slightly sweet, delicious cornbread taste
  • Nice texture inside
  • Convenient and easy prep
  • No mess

Cons

  • Edges aren’t crispy like traditional cornbread

Pillsbury Cornbread Swirls are better than most mixes and convenient cornbread options, but they don’t completely replace homemade cornbread in our opinion. We will continue to buy these for the times that we don’t have time to make cornbread from scratch!
