Dunkaroos are back! Dunkaroos Vanilla Cookies Review

90s kids rejoice! Dunkaroos are back on store shelves, and we grabbed the classic Dunkaroos Vanilla Cookies and Vanilla Frosting With Rainbow Sprinkles to see if it is really the same Dunkaroos that Millennials have fond memories of snacking on as kids.

If you can’t wait another second to find out if they are the same as the 90s treat you love, you can scroll straight down to the review. We won’t mind if you do!

Dunkaroos Flavors And More

For those new to this item, it is basically tiny sugar cookies with a sweet dip to dunk them in. There used to be all kinds of Dunkaroos flavors and shapes in the 90s, including icing flavors like chocolate, chocolate chip, peanut butter, and cinnamon. They were a hit with kids and young adults and could be found in stores in the United States until about 2012.

They were never discontinued in Canada, so some Americans would travel across the border to get some “Smugglaroos”. Seriously, there was a whole ad campaign and website around Smugglaroos.

For now, the only returning one is Vanilla Rainbow Sprinkles, but there are new Dunkaroos flavors and products that we found interesting. The current product line includes:

  • Dunkaroos Vanilla Cookies and Vanilla Frosting With Rainbow Sprinkles
  • Dunkaroos Sugar Cookie Dough

  • Dunkaroos Cereal

  • GoGurt Dunkaroos with either birthday cake, strawberry, or cotton candy yogurt

Dunkaroos Vanilla Cookies: Opinions Are In

Dunkaroos are back, for real!

The second we opened the package, the overwhelming sweet smell of frosting transported some of us back to our childhood.

Our reviewers that had never tried Dunkaroos Vanilla cookies were surprised by how sweet and tasty they are. No bland mini cookies here!

The “sugar-shortbread type cookies” are cute and pair perfectly with the sweet vanilla frosting. Rainbow sprinkles add a touch of whimsy and playfulness, making Dunkaroos especially fun to eat.

Part of the appeal is seeing what color or mix of colors you get with every dunk.

Dunkaroos Vanilla cookies “have big taste for a little snack” and are fun to eat. They also come in a “perfect snack-sized portion”

Even non-nostalgic adults will enjoy them almost as much as kids.

For all the millennials out there, the new Dunkaroos Vanilla tastes like our memories of 90s school lunches, after-school snacks, and Saturday morning cartoons, so grab a pack while you can!

Dunkaroos Vanilla Cookies: Summary And Rating

This blast from the past is both sweet and fun to eat. Here’s a summary of the highs and lows:

Pros

  • The components have good flavor
  • Winning combo of cookies, frosting, and sprinkles
  • Fun to eat
  • Tastes like the original Dunkaroos

Cons

  • No chocolate flavor yet
  • Can get a little sticky/messy

We recommend grabbing a pack of these, especially if you are feeling nostalgic for the 90s. So far, Dunkaroos Vanilla Cookies and Vanilla Frosting With Rainbow Sprinkles is the only classic flavor available, but hopefully they will bring others back. Chocolate frosting, anyone?

Rating: 8/10 (Very Good)
