Welch’s Juicefuls Fruit Snacks Reviewed

The fruit snack fanatics on our Food Rankers team couldn’t wait to try these, so we got down to business.

Mixed fruit is a nice mix of flavors that will please almost anyone. The orange and strawberry flavors are our favorites, but you can’t go wrong with any of these.

Looking at the box, we expected the gummy part of these to have some color, but the outside is actually clear. The color comes from the fruit filling, which you can see hanging out in the middle of the fruit snack, ready to ooze out when you bite into it.

We tried to get a picture, but it proved to be difficult to do these tiny, filled gummies justice.

We weren’t sure what to expect on our first bite. Some thought the exterior would be on par with the texture of a classic fruit snack, while others thought it would be chewier. Would the fruit center be juice-like or more of a jelly?

It turns out that the gummy exterior is really rather chewy, much more than a typical fruit snack. Most of us really enjoyed the texture, but it can be a bit tough to chew for some.

The juicy interior is more like a gel or syrup than proper juice, so it oozes into your mouth instead of squirting out. We all agreed that these are fun to bite into and addicting. The gel is definitely sweet in a good way.

The only issue we had with this variety in terms of taste, is that some flavors were muted and inconsistent. Orange and strawberry almost always tasted like their respective fruits, but the others were sometimes lacking in discernible fruit flavor. Sometimes, you would get one with a very clear burst of fruit flavor, then the next one of that fruit would be very mild.

Overall, these were good and got a 6/10, despite the inconsistencies.

Next, we sampled the Island Splash variety.

The appearance and texture of the Juicefuls doesn’t change between varieties, aside from the obvious fruit shape and color variances. The island fruit shapes are fun and playful.

The flavors in this variety are more exotic than the others, so it may not be the best choice for picky eaters or individuals that don’t care for tropical fruits, like pineapple and kiwi

That being said, this happens to be our favorite. Flavor is much more consistent than the mixed fruit variety in our experience, and each piece seems to have a stronger fruit flavor.

One of our reviewers was not thrilled with the banana ones, saying they didn’t really taste like banana. Otherwise, the Island Splash of Welch’s Juicefuls fruit snacks were a hit here at Food Rankers and earned a score of 7.8 out of 10.

The last one we tried, mainly because it took longer to find in stores near us, is Berry Blast.

The cherries and berries make for a pleasant and sweet variety of flavors. These were fairly consistent, and most clearly tasted like their respective fruits.

Blueberry and cherry lovers will really enjoy this one. The majority of us agree that blueberry is the star of this mix, although cherry and strawberry were close behind.

We do wish the raspberry was just a little stronger with the tartness of raspberries.

This flavor received a solid 7/10 rating from our reviewers
