New Sonic Aloha Slushes: Tropical Colada Slush And Polynesian Punch Slush (Review)

There are two new Sonic Aloha Slushes available for a limited time, the Tropical Colada Slush and the Polynesian Punch Slush. In today’s post, we will tell you all about them and whether our food rankers think they are worth ordering to get you through the summer.

Sonic Aloha Slushes: Tropical Colada Slush Review

The Sonic Tropical Colada Slush is a cool, sweet slushy treat with pineapple, coconut, and banana flavors. Some of our reviewers wondered if this was similar to another colada-flavored slush they released several years ago, which tasted mostly of pineapple and had pineapple pieces in it. We decided this is probably different because that one did not mention banana as an ingredient.

One look at the slush inside the cup proved that it is, in fact, a different drink.

Sonic Aloha Slushes: Tropical Colada Slush

This Tropical Colada Slush is really refreshing! Most of our panel agrees that this tasty mix of flavors is rather coconut-forward with banana and pineapple clearly present in the background. It gives off strong tropical drink vibes and all of the flavors really work together.

We honestly can’t think of anything negative to say about this one, aside from being bummed that it is a limited-time flavor for summer and not a permanent menu addition. You should definitely try the Sonic Tropical Colada Slush on your next order, as long as you like coconut-flavored stuff!

Sonic Aloha Slushes: Polynesian Punch Slush Review

For the Sonic Polynesian Punch Slush flavor, their site and menu say they were inspired by an island fruit punch. Our Food Rankers crew was intrigued by this as most of us enjoy a good fruit punch.

Sonic Aloha Slushes: Polynesian Punch Slush

As you can see, this is the more colorful of the two Sonic Aloha Slushes, which fits with it being a fruit punch variety.

The first few sips of this one were a little underwhelming for the majority of our team members as the flavor seemed very light. We are not sure why, but the flavor seems to build as become much stronger after the slush sits for a few minutes and starts to melt slightly.

Taste-wise, the Sonic Polynesian Punch Slush is a decent fruit punch slush. At first, the only fruit flavor some of us could detect was strawberry. As the flavor improved over time, it not only got much stronger but also brighter with some citrus notes to it. One reviewer also speculated that it may have mango in the mix, while another said it tastes like a slightly more adult version of the 90s version of the Hawaiian Punch kids juice drink.

While we are rather divided on what the Polynesian Punch Slush flavor actually tastes like, we do agree that it’s a nice fruity island punch slush that most kids and adults will enjoy. It should be your go-to variety of the Sonic Aloha Slushes if you prefer a mix of tropical fruit flavors rather than coconut.

Our Takeaways

The new Sonic Aloha Slushes are a limited-time menu addition full of summer fun. Most of our team preferred the Tropical Colada Slush. However, if you prefer fruity tropical drinks over coconut-based ones, you will probably side with a couple of our reviewers that say the Polynesian Punch Slush is clearly the best.
