Subway The Outlaw Sandwich (Review)

Subway The Outlaw Sandwich is just one of a range of 12 new Subway sandwiches available. Each sub has a predetermined set of ingredients, that can be customized if needed. Our team has tasted the Outlaw, and wants to tell you all about it.

Subway Outlaw Sandwich Review

Subway The Outlaw is a take on the classic cheesesteak sub, but this comes with a spicy twist. It combines steak with a double portion of Pepper Jack cheese, along with green bell peppers, red onions, and smoky Baja Chipotle sauce. All of these are then served toasted on Artisan Italian bread. We had ours with the advertised toppings, although some of our reviewers opted to have healthy multigrain bread, instead of Artisan Italian.

The steak was better quality than we expected from Subway. There were no fatty or tough bits of meat, and it was lightly seasoned. Additionally, there was a generous amount of steak on the sub, pleasing all of our crew.

One of our subs had a ton of onions on it, although this was appreciated by the member who claimed it. The onions and bell peppers in general add freshness and crunch. All of the ingredients combine well together, and there is a pleasant spicy, smoky kick from the combination of pepper jack cheese and Baja Chipotle sauce.  Most of our Food Rankers agree they would happily buy this one again.

One of our crew was served a disproportionately large amount of the Baja Chipotle sauce, and that affected their enjoyment of the sub. The excess sauce overwhelmed the other flavors and textures. It also made the sandwich messy and difficult to eat.

The Food Rankers panel was very happy with the Subway Outlaw Sub. We enjoyed the balance and combination of both flavors and textures. Our only real negative issue was the taster who was given too much sauce.

  • Good balance of flavor and texture
  • Spicy kick from the sauce

Cons

  • Too much sauce can dominate other flavors

  1. The Outlaw is a great sandwich. I add jalapenos and olives and have it toasted on the Italian Herb bread.
