As soon as you open the bag, the savory smells of garlic and onion are there to greet you, which seems very promising. The chips are the typical crunchy, kettle-cooked Lay’s variety we love, only with added seasoning.
If you look really closely, you can even see a few poppy seeds!
When it came to the taste test portion of this review, we all thought that this would become our new favorite chip. However, our reviews are a little mixed when it comes to the overall taste of Lay’s Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips. They definitely have the onion, garlic, and salty flavors of Everything seasoning, as well as the notes of cream cheese. The main critique from our crew is that the flavor doesn’t quite manage to taste like Everything Bagel seasoning.
We are not sure why they don’t quite have the Everything Bagel seasoning flavor we expected. One of our reviewers says that maybe they need more poppy seeds. Another one says that they just need to amp up the flavor intensity a bit. A couple of people feel that they are missing the sesame seeds that are often included in Everything seasoning. There was also some speculation about whether the garlic was slightly overpowering the other flavors.
Overall, we do like them and found that they pair very well with a variety of sandwiches, especially croissant or bagel sandwiches. We simply feel that they just aren’t quite Everything Bagel flavored. They do have some great savory notes though, especially with the cream cheese flavor and are definitely worth trying.
