Sonic Strawberry Shortcake Snowball Slush Float Review
Our team had so many questions going into this taste test. What exactly is a slush float? How can a slush with ice cream taste like strawberry shortcake? Well, we would soon get our answers.
The menu describes the Sonic Strawberry Shortcake Snowball Slush Float as a blend of strawberries and shortcake flavor mixed into a slush and then topped with a scoop of ice cream and sugary snow crystals. Here is what that looks like in real life:
While it may not be as picturesque as depicted on the menu board, the slush float combination tastes surprisingly good.
In regards to the strawberry shortcake slush component, it does manage to bring hints of shortcake flavor to a sweet slush with actual chunks of strawberry. Everyone enjoyed the slush. In fact, one reviewer wants to know when they will put a Sonic Strawberry Shortcake Slush on the menu without all of the extra stuff in it. I would also be down for that as a refreshing summer drink!
The vanilla ice cream and crunchy snow crystals make for a nice presentation on top, but do they really add anything to the taste of the slush float? In order to find out, we had to mix up our slush floats a little, resulting in something that resembles an item from years ago, the Strawberry CreamSlush. We found that our opinions diverge once the ice cream and snow crystals come into play.
We all agree that the ice cream and snow crystals change the overall flavor and texture of the strawberry shortcake slush mixture. Most of our members have neutral feelings about the change and say that it wouldn’t be a Sonic Strawberry Shortcake Snowball Slush Float without the ice cream to make it a ‘snowball slush float’, which is a valid point. The mixture is creamy, sweet, fruity, and delicious all at the same time.
However, one person had very strong feelings about the addition of ice cream, saying that it almost ruins a perfectly good slush. Once you add the ice cream, the strawberry shortcake flavor is not as strong. This is a problem for serious fans of strawberry shortcake, so maybe having just the slush without the ice cream would be best if you fall in this category.
We also had another member start a minor debate, only their issue is with the snow crystals. They loved the slush float aspect and the shortcake flavor but said that the extra sweetness and crunch from the snow crystals took away from the creamy texture and taste of the rest of the ingredients.
