Taco Bell Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco Review
The Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco comes with a breaded chicken strip, Chipotle Sauce, and a puffy flatbread. There is also a spicy version that includes jalapeños, but we chose to simply review the regular one for now. So, if it’s basically chicken, chipotle sauce and flatbread, you might wonder what the big deal is here. Honestly, our review team thought the same thing when they saw it.
We are here to tell you that what makes the Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco really shine is the chicken itself. It pleasantly surprised us to find that the thick piece of white meat chicken which was tender with really solid flavor and crunch. They put a lot of thought into the chicken in this item and it really shows, from the jalapeño buttermilk marinade to the seasonings and tortilla chip coating.
Based on the chicken alone, you would never know this came from Taco Bell or a typical fast food place. We did not expect to find this level of chicken in this Taco Bell Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco review or any fast food review, and we still can’t wrap our minds around it!
The Chipotle Sauce gives off a bit of heat and some nice Taco Bell vibes to remind you that this is a Taco Bell taco of sorts. This sauce really compliments the chicken and makes us wonder why we haven’t tried putting their Chipotle Sauce on a chicken sandwich before. The flatbread is soft and holds the whole thing together well, managing to be somewhat bun-like and tortilla-like at the same time.
One thing that we are unable to agree on is whether this is more like a taco or a sandwich. It definitely tastes more like a sandwich with the delicious, crispy chunk of white-meat chicken, yet it has that familiar Taco Bell scent and flavor, mostly coming from the Chipotle Sauce. You can also choose to eat it as a sandwich or a taco fairly easily.
